24 June 2014

This update of EveryMac.com features specs, identifiers, benchmarks, and global prices on the new entry-level iMac as well as a handful of Q&As.

Additionally, the Currently Shipping, By Year, By Processor, By Case Type, By Capability, and By Identifier Mac specs listings have been updated and Mac Manuals, Mac Benchmarks, and Global Original Mac Prices have been updated, also.

The Ultimate Mac Comparison, Ultimate Mac Lookup, and Ultimate Mac Sort features all have been updated, too.

Finally, the EveryMac app [subsequently discontinued] -- designed for the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android -- has been updated to cover the new iMac, as well.

For those interested in saving money on a new entry-level iMac, site sponsor PowerMax has the latest model -- as well as more powerful new iMac models -- free of sales tax and with free shipping.

If you bought, or buy, a new iMac, please send in its identifiers. The non-personal information will be added to EveryMac.com to help with model identification and differentiation. Thank you.

New Q&As

A selection of Q&As since the last major site update include:

  • Is the battery in the MacBook Air models really not replaceable? Is there a "hack" to replace it?
  • How do you replace the battery in the 15-Inch "Unibody" MacBook Pro models? Is it even possible?
  • How do you upgrade the RAM in the "Unibody" MacBook Pro models? How much RAM does each model actually support?
  • How do you upgrade the hard drive in the "Unibody" MacBook Pro models? What type of hard drive do these models support? How do you replace the hard drive with an SSD?

For all new Q&As, please refer to EveryMac.com's Recently Added Q&As listing.
