MacOS-Compatible Systems: Colby Systems Colby Systems manufactured an interesting line of laptop MacOS-Compatibles from January 1990 to December 1991 (estimate), long before "traditional" MacOS licensing was available. Although details on the licensing status of the systems is virtually non-existent, it is likely that Colby signed an agreement with Apple to use the ROM and logic board from an existing Apple Macintosh, similar to deals struck by Dynamac and Outbound. If you have additional information about Colby Systems, particularly regarding their licensing agreement or why they stopped production, please share. |
