Mac Clones: PowerTools: X-Factor 250 Specs | Ports

PowerTools X

The PowerTools X-Factor 250, based on the Tsunami architecture, features a pre-installed 250 MHz PowerPC 750 processor upgrade card, 32 MB or 80 MB of RAM, a 2.1 GB or 9.1 GB hard drive, and a 4 MB IMS Twin Turbo video card in an industry-standard tower case. The PowerTools X-Factor 250 is based on the SuperMac S900 series, and likewise, can be upgraded to dual processors. This model caused much controversy regarding MacOS licensing, because PowerTools did not have a license to ship computers with the PowerPC 750 (G3) processor, but an upgrade card circumvented the licensing requirement to some extent. After PowerTools "got away" with this, other MacOS-Compatible vendors did the same thing.
