The Newer iMAXpowr G4 433 features a 433 MHz PowerPC 7400 (G4) processor with 1 MB of backside cache on a 216.5 MHz backside bus. The iMAXpowr G4 is installed in the iMac daughtercard slot, replacing the original daughtercard. To cleverly circumvent the ROM-issue regarding processor upgrades (see FAQ), Newer has essentially retro-fitted an existing iMac daughtercard with a faster processor. After installing the card, you are expected to return the original daughtercard for a rebate, which will presumably be upgraded and sold. |
