What are the differences between the second generation or "ATI" eMac models?

Please note that the second generation eMac line -- formally dubbed the "ATI" series -- was introduced on May 6, 2003, reconfigured on October 22, 2003, and discontinued on April 13, 2004.

The second generation "ATI" eMac models -- the eMac G4/800 (ATI) and G4/1.0 (ATI) -- have G4 processors, PC133 SDRAM, an Ultra ATA/66 hard drive, ATI Radeon 7500 graphics, and 17-inch CRT displays in large 50 pound (22.7 kg) ice white all-in-one cases.

On October 22, 2003, the eMac G4/800 (ATI) was discontinued and the eMac G4/1.0 (ATI) was modestly reconfigured -- the original "Combo" drive configuration (M8950LL/A) was replaced by a model with a smaller hard drive, and a lower price (M9252LL/A). The "SuperDrive" configuration M8951LL/A was replaced by M8951LL/A, which was configured identically but offered at a lower price. However, these reconfigured models are *not* capable of *booting* in MacOS 9 whereas the original models are capable of booting in MacOS 9.

† On October 22, 2003, the eMac G4/1.0 (ATI) was "reconfigured" and assigned new model numbers. The second "low end" model -- M9252LL/A -- had 128 MB of RAM, a 40 GB hard drive and a "Combo" drive and sold for US$799. The second "high end" model -- M8951LL/A -- was internally identical to the first one but sold for US$1099. Please note that this second revision cannot boot MacOS 9.
