Can you wall mount the White iMac "Core Duo/Core 2 Duo" models? Are any VESA compliant?

For readers who may not be familiar with the term "VESA compliant", VESA is an acronym for "Video Electronics Standards Association". In an informative page, ErgoInDemand (no longer online) noted that when it refers to LCD or flat panel monitors:

'VESA standard' means a hole pattern on the back of the monitor: 3" x 3" or 4" x 4" (75 mm x 75 mm or 100 mm x 100 mm). The diameter of the screws are 4 mm. . . The four holes may be centered or are located on the lower edge of the monitor. With some models you might have to remove the original stand (if the electronic is not located in the foot) before you will see the 4 holes.

If you are interested in in-depth information, the VESA website also provides summaries of the organization's standards.

As can be confirmed by a quick read of "No VESA Mount Adapter Kit" on Apple's Support Site, the iMac "Core Duo" models are not VESA compliant and "while similar in form. . . are not compatible with the iMac G5 VESA Mount Adapter Kit."

The 17-Inch and 20-Inch models from the White iMac "Core 2 Duo" series share the same housing as the original Intel powered iMac "Core Duo" series, and are not VESA compliant as well.

The iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.16 24-Inch model -- also white -- is VESA compliant and can be wall mounted using an Apple adapter kit.

However, non-VESA compliant iMac models still can be mounted on a wall or articulating arm by using a third-party product such as the one offered by iMacMount (subsequently discontinued).

The company explains that their product integrates with the iMac stand and:

Provides a method for attaching Apple iMac all-in-one computers to VESA compliant wall mounting and articulating arm systems; providing a VESA mount interface for iMac models that are otherwise considered VESA non-compliant or unable to mount.
