What are the differences between the "Spring 2003" iMac G4 "Flat Panel" models?

Please note that the "Spring 2003" iMac G4 "Flat Panel" models -- which refers to "Spring" in the Northern Hemisphere -- were introduced on February 4, 2003 and discontinued on September 8, 2003.

The "Spring 2003" iMac G4 "Flat Panel" models are effectively the same externally -- with the computer housed in an attractive 10.6" half-sphere, ice white case with a chromed stainless steel neck that supports a TFT Active Matrix LCD display (of different sizes), but quite different internally.

The low-end model -- the iMac G4/800 - X Only (Flat Panel) uses a logicboard design effectively the same as the original models with a G4 processor, 100 MHz system bus, PC133 SDRAM, an Ultra ATA/66 hard drive, and GeForce2 MX graphics with 32 MB of VRAM. Like the original models, it also has a 15" LCD display. However, unlike the original models, the iMac G4/800 - X Only (Flat Panel) is not capable of booting into MacOS 9.

The high-end model -- the iMac G4/1.0 17-Inch (Flat Panel) -- has a G4 processor, like the low-end model -- albeit a faster one -- but it notably uses a faster logicboard design with a faster 133 MHz system bus, support for faster PC2100 DDR SDRAM, a faster Ultra ATA/100 hard drive, GeForce4 MX graphics with 64 MB of VRAM, and support for Bluetooth 1.1 (available as an optional upgrade). It has a 17" LCD display.

When shipped, these models were configured with MacOS X 10.2.3 pre-installed and neither can boot into earlier versions of the MacOS. Each can run MacOS 9 applications within the "Classic Environment" provided by MacOS X 10.4.11 and earlier, however.
