Apple Macintosh 512ke (ED) The Apple Macintosh 512ke features an 8 MHz 68000 processor, 512k of RAM, and an 800k disk drive in a beige all-in-one case with a 9" monochrome display.

This model is quite similar to the previously released Macintosh 512k, except that the 512ke supports higher density 800k disks and has the same 128k ROM as the Macintosh Plus. However, the Macintosh 512ke was intended to be a "lower-end" version of the Macintosh Plus, and likewise, lacks SCSI support and RAM expansion.

For the education-only market, the Macintosh 512ke was later branded as the "Macintosh ED."
