Who designed the Mac mini "Core"?

Apple's industrial design for the last several years has been performed entirely in-house by Apple's Industrial Design Group, led by Jonathan Ive.

If you are interested in industrial design, you might like to purchase the now out of print AppleDesign: The Work of the Apple Industrial Design Group. This book has hundreds of full color photographs of vintage prototype Apple products that were never released and is an interesting look into the evolution of Apple's style.

Where can I buy a Mac mini "Core"?

In the US, you may purchase an Intel-based Mac mini "Core" directly from Apple, but doing so often will require you to pay sales tax, which on a Mac mini, display, keyboard, and mouse, easily can exceed US$100. Those interested in getting the best deal would be better served by purchasing their Mac from an Apple Authorized Reseller that does not charge sales tax, like site sponsor PowerMax.

Site sponsor PowerMax offers a large selection of refurbished and used systems including Mac mini models.

What are the default configurations?

For the default configurations, please refer to the specs page for the model of interest and the "Comparative Q&As".

Are custom configurations available?

Yes. You can choose to customize the amount of RAM, hard drive size, optical drive, keyboard type and decide whether or not to add an external Apple USB Modem for US$49 (an internal modem is not offered).
