The Apple Macintosh Performa 578 features a 33 MHz 68LC040 processor, 8 MB of RAM, a 320 MB hard drive, and a 2X CD-ROM drive in a relatively compact all-in-one case with a 14" color display. The Performa 578 is identical to the Performa 577, except that the 578 shipped with 8 MB of RAM.
The educational version of the Performa 578 is the LC 575.

||*This model has a 32-bit processor and a 32-bit data path. Sometimes this model is designated as having a 66 MHz processor, since the clock input runs at 66 MHz. However, the processor itself is not "clock doubled," so technically it only is a 33 MHz processor.

||*By default, 512k of VRAM is installed as two 256k VRAM SIMMs. The VRAM can be upgraded to 1 MB by installing two 512k VRAM SIMMs.
