Which PowerBook G3 models support ADB and SCSI? Which PowerBook G3 models support USB and Firewire?

During the run of the PowerBook G3 line, Apple phased out ADB and SCSI in favor of USB and Firewire.

The "Original/Kanga", "Wallstreet", and "PDQ" models have ADB and SCSI, the "Bronze Keyboard/Lombard" models have USB and SCSI, and the "Firewire/Pismo" models have USB and Firewire.

This transition is perhaps best summarized in the below chart:

PowerBook G3

Ports

G3/250 (Original)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/233 (Wallstreet)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/250 (Wallstreet)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/292 (Wallstreet)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/233 (PDQ - Late 1998)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/266 (PDQ - Late 1998)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/300 (PDQ - Late 1998)

1 ADB, 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/333 (Bronze Keyboard/Lombard)

2 USB (1.1), 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/400 (Bronze Keyboard/Lombard)

2 USB (1.1), 1 SCSI (HDI-30)

G3/400 (Firewire/Pismo)

2 USB (1.1), 2 Firewire (400)

G3/500 (Firewire/Pismo)

2 USB (1.1), 2 Firewire (400)

USB and Firewire can be added to models that do not have these ports via a PCMCIA/CardBus expansion card.

Site sponsor Operator Headgap Systems has inexpensive PCMCIA/CardBus cards to add the more modern USB and Firewire technologies to a vintage PowerBook G3.
