What are the "pros and cons" of the PowerBook G4 models? Is one right for my needs?
Please note that the final PowerBook G4 models were discontinued on April 26, 2006.
Like any other purchase, only you can make the decision whether or not the PowerBook G4 is the right Mac for you -- and there are a huge number of models with varying capabilities -- but you can evaluate the pros and cons of the series to see if your needs are met. This summary may be helpful in making a decision:
Pros:
Cons:
If performance, portability, MacOS 9/"Classic" support, and a PC card slot are important, then a PowerBook G4 would be ideal. If MacOS 9/"Classic" support, PC card support, or an internal modem are not relevant, but the PowerBook G4 otherwise meets your needs -- and price is not an issue -- you might also consider an Intel-based MacBook or MacBook Pro. Site sponsor PowerMax sells all of these systems.
