Apple HomePod 2nd GenReleased as a vaguely cheaper, modestly less capable version of the original HomePod, but more expensive and marketed as providing better quality audio than the inexpensive and smaller HomePod mini, the HomePod (2nd Gen) is a wireless "smart speaker" for recent iPhone and iPad models.

In addition to emphasizing its "smart home" automation capabilities largely courtesy of new temperature and humidity sensors, Apple heralds that the HomePod (2nd Gen) has a "custom-engineered high-excursion woofer" and includes a "built-in bass-EQ mic", an array of five horn-loaded tweeters, and four microphones that "work together to achieve a powerful acoustic experience."

Like the original HomePod, the HomePod (2nd Gen) was designed to work with the Apple Music service and supports Siri for voice interaction, but it also has a round display on the top with touch-sensitive controls for volume, track control, and Siri activation.

Internally, it is powered by an Apple S7 processor, likely has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage (both RAM and storage are unreported and unconfirmed), and supports 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) and Bluetooth 5.0.

The HomePod (2nd Gen) is compatible with the iPhone SE (2nd generation or later) or iPhone 8 or later; or iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air (3rd generation or later), or iPad mini (5th generation or later) running "the latest version" of the iOS or iPadOS. It does not work directly with a Windows PC or Mac (although sound can be sent from the Mac to HomePod using AirPlay).

Compared to the original original HomePod, the HomePod (2nd Gen) is slightly smaller and has a different processor, but also has two fewer tweeters and two fewer microphones and slower Wi-Fi. On the other hand, it has a larger display, temperature and humidity sensors, a removable power cable, and support for Thread networking and Ultra Wideband.
