Mac-Compatible Upgrade Cards: Sonnet Technologies: Crescendo G3/L2 400/512k (1M) Specs

Sonnet Crescendo G3/L2

The Sonnet Crescendo G3/L2 400/512k (1M) features a 400 MHz PowerPC 750 (G3) processor with either 512k or 1 MB of backside cache. Originally, there were two versions of this card, one for systems based on the Gazelle architecture, such as the Power Macintosh 5400 and 6400 (SKU BG3), and another version for systems based on the Tanzania architecture, such as the Motorola StarMax series (SKU B4G3). The version for the StarMax series now has been discontinued, but the version for the Gazelle series has been redesigned to accomodate the StarMax 3000 and 5000 series. Currently, the StarMax 4000 and 5500 series are not supported. All versions of the card plug into the L2 cache slot and replace the existing L2 cache card.
